Retirement Readiness

Retirement readiness is becoming a prominent issue as the oldest Baby Boomers reach retirement age and redefine what it means “to retire.”

After years in the workforce, many hope to achieve a state of “well-being” and see retirement as a time when they can personally thrive. For others, the goal might simply be to make sure their money lasts as long as needed. As a retirement counselor, you need to be able to help clients, employees or even family members at retirement make informed retirement planning decisions in a way that maximizes both the financial and non-financial resources available to them—regardless of their financial situation.

It is important for retirement professionals to understand that effective retirement counseling consists of an inter-disciplinary approach across fields associated with money, health and happiness to increase a retiree’s preparedness for realizing retirement security and satisfaction.
